Our Real Estate Department has an immediate need for a Legal Assistant. Duties include answering the telephone and fielding customer inquiries, assisting in house attorneys, preparing documents for transactions, working with clients and other attorney offices, scheduling and additional office support.
Two or more years experience in a legal office setting, administrative experience and understanding of real estate transactions is required. Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be experienced, highly organized, and able to manage all aspects of real estate transactions from contract through closing. This position involves working directly with attorneys, clients. banks, title companies, and municipal offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage real estate closings for residential and commercial properties
- Prepare and review real estate closing documents including purchase and sale agreements, deeds, tax forms and associated closing materials
- Perform title searches
- Prepare title commitments, title insurance policies, and closing disclosures
- Communicate with clients, realtors, lenders, and local officials to ensure that transactions are carried out in a timely manner
- Maintain computer and physical files and records in accordance with firm policies
- Assist with post-closing follow-up, including recording of documents and issuing disbursements
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a real estate paralegal or legal assistant preferred
- Strong working knowledge of the mechanics of real estate transactions including title work and closing procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and ability to learn to use the firm’s accounting, closing and title insurance software
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
